Interested in Confirmation Classes?
“Confirmation” is a study and discussion experience for youth designed to help them explore possible membership in a local United Methodist congregation. Our last, recently completed Confirmation Class experience was fractured by COVID19 and now we’re assessing the interest in Confirmation 2022.
If your family includes one or more children in 7th through 9th grades interested in participating in Confirmation classes this year, please contact Rev. Jim Shirbroun (jim@gracesiouxcity.org).

Confirmation 2021
It was such a joy to celebrate with this group of Confirmation students as they became members of Grace United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 8.
Many thanks to the students, their families and their mentors who supported them and helped guide them through the Confirmation experience. Confirmation classes can of-ten be challenging as the students contemplate and discuss deep and wide topics re-lated to their faith journeys. However, these students, family, and mentors faced ad-ditional challenges related to COVID19.
They began their Confirmation journey with in-person gatherings in early January of 2020. Those gatherings were suspended in mid-March. After lots of prayer and con-versations, in May 2021 we moved to a new curriculum resource which focused on strong student-mentor relationships. Mentors and students met in person, via zoom and via phone calls and I held 4 virtual meetings with the group as well.
Then, after an arduous 19-month journey, these students stood in front of the congre-gation and shared their decisions to become members. Please join me in prayers of thanksgiving for these students and everyone involved in their adventure…and pray-ers for their continued growth in faith and in serving God.
