Combining Spirituality, Community, and Fun
April Spiritual Activities & Practices
Faith Family Club; Where Our Strength is United
The purpose is to enjoy spending quality time together through creative & intellectual projects, while sparking family & faith based discussions. These activities are just suggestions. We encourage your family to do at least two within a month's time span.
Outdoor: Butterfly Release- At 11:15am On Easter Morning (Sunday, April 4th)
join us on the chimes tower side of the church as we release over 100 butterflies. (If you cannot attend/join us, we suggest purchasing your own
Butterfly kit to do at home—found on Amazon.com)
Outdoor spiritual connection: As the butterflies are released and begin their journey onward, think about how the butterflies’ chrysalis transformation from caterpillar-to-cocoon-to-butterfly is just like Jesus’ death & resurrection. Jesus was born of mankind and willingly died for our sins.
This is just how a caterpillar begins metamorphosis; it realizes & knows that it must “die” to be born again. When Jesus arose from the tomb, he emerged like a beautiful butterfly ready to leave his beauty for all this world to know. He moved on from this place, so that we may know his power and love endures forever.
Movie: Moana-This 2016 animated musical is an excellent family movie choice for evaluating our carbon footprint in this world. Note how the world begins to draw more dim and dark & how the vegetation is slowly dying as the movie progresses. Note: the primary plot point revolves around returning the heart of Te Fiti.
Movie spiritual connection: After watching, draw & discuss the parallels between Te Fiti losing her heart & how our Earth may be feeling with all the pollution waste. How can we as Christians give back to our community and to our Earth? In honor of Earth Day (April 22nd); discuss as a family what each of you can do to contribute to our earth’s well-being. Find ways as a family to start recycling cans, bottles, cardboard, etc.
Artistic: Car Karaoke-Find at least one day in the month of April & take one hour to drive around with your family. As you do, take turns switching who gets to choose the music you listen to in the car. Have fun listening to one another’s preferred music taste and enjoy singing along—and no, you don’t need to know all the lyrics to have a good time singing karaoke together in the car.
Artistic spiritual connection: Use this time together as a family to appreciate how God has given each of us the talents and abilities that we have. We each have our own strengths and weakness, just as we each have our similarities to our differences. Thank God for all the commonalities found between your family members.
Music is just one of many things that everyone can enjoy together; whether that be singing, humming, dancing, toe-tapping or head-bobbing. Thank God
for all the little things provided that can unite your family.
Innovative: Family Puzzle- Print out a picture of your family and cut it into puzzle pieces. (Suggestion: have the family picture printed on something thicker than an average piece of paper like cardstock) Have each family member assist in reassembling the picture. Find a way to attach the pieces together (glue or tape) then frame the newly constructed family picture.
Innovative spiritual connection: The purpose of this family based activity is acknowledging how each family member is an important key element to holding the family together. The puzzle will never be completed or whole without every piece of the puzzle, just like every member of your family.
Please send our Christian Education Team (email@example.com) pictures of your family doing any of the Monthly Faith Family Club Spiritual Activities.

OUT IN THE COMMUNITY:
DISCUSS TOGETHER AS A FAMILY: Then make a plan on how you can help.
· What are some random things about planet Earth that you’re thankful for?
· How do you sometimes take God's creation for granted?
· How can you appreciate God's creation more in your everyday life?
FAMILY BACKYARD CAMPOUT
Faith Family Club Fun
Jesus shared meals around campfires and cooked fish on the beach for his friends. He took long walks with them and had meaningful conversations. He played with children. And Jesus often encouraged his disciples to take time away from their work of ministry to simply enjoy the world God had made.
Going camping is no easy task. There’s a lot involved with packing everything up, heading for the site, setting up the tent, planning and cooking the meals, and keeping an eye out for critters.
But there’s also something about setting up camp and sharing time in the woods with people who are important to you that is deeply meaningful. The shared meals around the campfire. The long walks exploring creeks and hiking trails. The time away from work and technology that opens up space for breathing, long conversations, and playfulness.
Attention to our Community of Faith. Its time for some fellowship and sharing of your talents. Grace welcomes all families, of any size or age to be part of Faith Family Club
