Coming Home + Lent 2025
The season of Lent is a time for prayer, self-reflection, repentance from bad thoughts or habits, and taking up the cross of discipleship in new ways. When we observe it well, it prepares us well to experience Jesus’ last and Holy Week together, and then to celebrate the joy of Easter. We have a number of different ways to deepen and enrich our lives this Lent. Read on to find out more… Lenten Worship – Special Services Ash Wednesday (March 6 at 6:30pm) *Potluck dinner at 5:30pm Palm Sunday (April 13 at 10:00am) Holy Thursday (April 17 at 6:30 pm Good Friday (April 18 at 6:30 pm Easter (April 20 at 10:00am) *no Saturday chapel on April 19 Lenten Worship – Regular Services Saturday in the chapel (5:30 pm) and Sunday in the sanctuary (10:00am). Our theme is Coming Home, based on Jesus’ parable of the Father and Two Sons in Luke 15:11-32. We will be asking ourselves the meaning of “home.” What does it look like? How do we create it? Who is included? How does God invite us to find “home” wherever we are? Other Opportunities |
Pastor’s Bible Study – Our topic this Spring is “Secrets of the Kingdom: Jesus’ Parables in the Gospel of Luke”. We meet on Sundays at 11:15am in the Large Conference Room and Mondays at 2:00pm at the Pointe (3rd Floor Conference Room). We are reading and discussing all of the parables in Luke, and will gain a full sense of how Lk 15:11-32 relates to the rest of Jesus’ teaching there. Everyone is welcome.
We will be reading The Return of the Prodigal Son: A Story of Homecoming by Henri Nouwen. This book includes the author’s reflection on the themes of home and homecoming in Luke 15:11-32 as well as on Rembrandt’s painting “The Return of the Prodigal Son”. Join Kathy Martin on Tuesdays at 3:00pm in the Parlor. Purchase your own copy ($10-15 online).
